DFD responded to automatic mutual aid request from Slingerlands FD with T20, E21 and S24 for a signal 30, fully involved residential structure fire. Upon command's arrival, heavy fire was observed at the A/D corner of the residence. DFD hose-line crews were met with heavy fire while trying to make entry through the front door at which time a partial collapse of the structure forced them to retreat and assume a defensive operation. T20 and Elsmere T30 provided master stream operations to the fire and the fire was fully contained within two hours. All residents evacuated from the structure safely and no FF's sustained injury. Slingerlands FD was assisted at the scene by companies from Delmar, Elsmere and North Bethlehem.

Amos J. Bastiani
12, 1943 ~ February 19, 2014
It is with heavy hearts, that we
at the Delmar Fire Department announce the passing of Life Member, Past Chief,
Past President, Past Rescue Squad Captain, and current Fire District
Commissioner, Amos J. Bastiani,
Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
Amos enjoyed a 38 year volunteer
career with the Delmar Fire Department serving as a leader and mentor to our
emergency services community. He was
instrumental in bringing Advanced Life Support Services to the Town of
Bethlehem. He was among the first
paramedics in Albany County and the first one in the Town of Bethlehem. Many still remember the first Tech 100. His devotion to the fire department was very profound as he served in many elected positions and numerous committees of our organization. His devoted countless hours of service to the department and his community will be sorely missed by the people who knew him and by those who served with him.
